Code of Conduct

All course, workshop and/or training participants, and community members are required to comply with the requirements set down in this Code of Conduct.

We are working and studying together on the Techmongers premises with people from all walks of life, and are very diverse in origin, nationality, background culture or gender. One of the founding principles of the company is bringing more diversity in tech, and this cannot occur without a safe and comfortable learning environment. All people working and studying at Techmongers are responsible for the creation and maintenance of such an environment.

At Techmongers we treat each other with respect, we listen to each others’ opinions, we are considerate and we support each other.

We know that the high pace of study programmes can sometimes push students to their limits. Therefore we want people to feel as comfortable as possible. To achieve this, there is absolutely no room for prohibited conduct or inappropriate behaviour towards Techmongers employees, students, suppliers, visitors or other stakeholders. Students nor staff are allowed to use improper and/or illegal behaviour which could result in conflicts or severe complaints with other students, staff, customers, employees, suppliers or others. 

Here are some examples of Prohibited conduct:

Acts of Academic dishonesty

  • Plagiarism
  • Preparing work for another that will be used by others as his / her own work
  • Cheating
  • Using generative AI tools, such as ChatGPT or GitHub Copilot unless explicitly permitted in individual assessments. For guidance on the appropriate use of generative AI tools in your coursework, please refer to the guidelines provided in each specific assessment
  • Misinforming Techmongers staff during your course by providing incomplete, fake or false information with an intent to deceive

Acts of Property damage

  • Reckless behaviour
  • Damage to the property with malicious intent
  • Arson
  • Tampering with locks, doors or emergency installations at the training facilty

Acts of Social misconduct

  • Discrimination (any comment, statement, decision or action that differentiates between persons on the grounds of religion, marital status, political affiliation, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, nationality, age, physical or mental ability, or any other personal characteristic in the meaning intended by Article 1 of the Dutch Constitution)
  • Verbal aggression (whether direct, online or on the phone)
  • Physical aggression (on and off the training facility property)
  • Psychological aggression (such as threats or blackmail)
  • Coercion (physical or verbal)
  • Intimidation (such as threatening gestures or threats made through third parties)
  • Sexual intimidation (indecency such as making suggestive remarks, sending messages or photos of a sexual nature)
  • Insults (such as defamation and slander)
  • Bullying (such as belittling remarks of criticism or intimidation, from taunts to physical violence or idle gossip);
  • Possession and/or use of weapons of any kind;
  • Theft

Acts of Cyber misconduct

  • Exploiting and or sharing of private and sensitive information or vulnerabilities of external parties for own profit or that of third parties (for example while performing hacking activities);
  • Exploiting vulnerabilities of external parties beyond the requested scope or permissions (for example while performing hacking activities).

When a course, workshop and/or training participants, or a staff member violates the above-mentioned rules, Techmongers reserves the right to take disciplinary action and/or impose sanctions. 

Any situation where the Code of Conduct has been breached must be reported immediately. Students are asked to reach out to (one of their) teachers or to send an email to support@techmongers.nl. Staff are asked to approach the Techmongers’s confidential counsellor. These reports may be made anonymously and will be investigated accordingly warranting confidentiality.  

Disciplinary action and sanctions for the perpetrators will be confirmed in writing. 

Possible sanctions are:

  • Official warning;
  • Banning from the premises of the training facility;
  • Banning from the online Discord community;
  • Termination of access to course materials;
  • Cancellation of the contract and charging of the course fees;
  • Matters of any illegal activity will be handed over to proper authorities without hesitation.

This Code of Conduct is an integral part of the student contract with Techmongers.
