This course is a unique technical leadership program that aims to help senior IT professionals to take the ultimate next step in their careers. A Chief Technical Officer (CTO) is a senior executive responsible for the technical direction and strategy of an organisation. Technical leaders typically have a strong technical background and are responsible for overseeing the technical aspects of the organisation's products, services, and operations.
As you will notice from the experience of your teachers, the backgrounds and specific responsibilities of a CTO can vary depending on the organisation, but overall, a CTO is responsible for the technical vision, direction and execution of an organisation, they are the chief architect of the organisation's technology and are a key member of the leadership team.
Here's a birds eye view of the contents of the course.
Technical management is the process of leading and overseeing the technical aspects of a project or organisation. It includes tasks such as leading a development team, making technical decisions, managing technical debt, setting technical direction and strategy, managing the budget and resources, identifying and addressing technical risks and issues, and communicating with non-technical stakeholders. It requires the ability to balance technical needs and goals with budget, resources, and time constraints, as well as lead and inspire a dev team.

Each method has different implementations and excels in different settings and industries. Company and team culture also plays a part when choosing the right methodology.
Learn about the planning, execution, monitoring, and control of a project to achieve specific goals and objectives. We will focus on tasks such as budgeting, resource allocation, and risk management.
Technical architecture is the overall design of a system, including the structure, components, interfaces, and data flow. It defines how the system will meet its requirements and support its technology stack. Examples of topics we will cover are microservices, monoliths, cloud computing, and containerisation.
You will learn about all the different attacks on the ever-growing list of common attacks to prepare you and your organisation for things that may happen to anyone. But knowing about them at least gives you a fighting chance!
Learn communicating with non-technical stakeholders, and presenting technical information to a non-technical audience in a practical way.
Learn to maximise your team's impact on your organisation by identifying and evaluating new business opportunities, and creating a long-term vision for a company's technical direction.
